It can drill in a range of formations, including soft formations with mud dilling and rock formations with an air DTH hammer. Slag is expelled by air pressure when DTH Hammer is used in rock dilling, and the offstage efficiency is 10 times that of standard rotary dilling.

Cutting dilling or rotary dilling in an unconsolidated layer can be done with CCM200 deep water well dilling rigs, and the slag can be discharged by mud. Impact dilling can also be done with CCM200 deep water well dilling rigs, and the slag can be discharged by pressure air.
